Gabrielle Union just keeps adding things to her portfolio. Not only does the Being Mary Jane star act, write and produce, she’s got an entrepreneurial mind on her shoulders. From the launch of her Vanilla Puddin’ wine in 2012, she’s been on a hot streak.
Women Love Clothes and Hair
This new partnership with New York & Company is just one of the ventures Union has going on this year. She’s also launched Flawless by Gabrielle Union, a haircare line targeted to women with textured hair due in Ulta Beauty Stores April 16, and is already available on the website Flawlesshair.com.
The haircare line features 10 products, including shampoos, conditioners, hair masque, edge control gel and blow dry creams made with a three-oil blend of Argan, Avocado and Marula oils. According to Union, the haircare line came from personal struggles she had to overcome dealing with the natural texture of her hair.
“I went through a phase where I would leave my relaxer on so long, thinking the longer I leave this relaxer on, the straighter it’s going to be. Cut to lesions, like open wounds in my scalp trying to chase something that was unrealistic, and eventually probably in my mid-to-late-20s, I decided to give up my relaxer and I went natural.”
New York & Company welcomes Gabrielle Union
Fashion giant New York & Company has partnered with Gabrielle Union as one of their brand ambassadors starting this month as the face of the 7th Avenue Design Studio. Union will also have her own namesake collection in August 2017, joining the ranks of Eva Mendez.
Union will be seen in campaigns both in-store and online, print advertising, social media and digital marketing efforts. She will be designing her namesake collection for the brand.
On her TV character Mary Jane as it relates to the NY&C brand, Union says, “Mary Jane’s style reflects power, leadership and risk taking. She wears classic styles but with a twist, which is why I think she’d definitely shop at New York & Company.”
Greg Scott, CEO of NY&C says of Union, “Our customers relate to Gabrielle. She has worked hard to establish a successful career and is both aspirational and inspirational to our consumer. Gabrielle’s collection will be unlike anything our customers have ever seen from us. Adding her brand to our portfolio will strongly appeal to our loyal clients and will also attract new customers to our brand. It will be significant to our growth strategy in 2017.”
